A new version of ServeManager was recently released by ServeNow.

ServeNow recently released a new version of ServeManager, a web-based software for process servers. Looking to fulfill the needs of process servers when it comes to finances, case management, interacting with clients, and more, the new ServeManager has an online platform and mobile interface to help process servers run their businesses.

“In an industry that lacks tools for efficiency and accountability, ServeManager is an application that meets the needs of a process server when it comes to running their business,” ServeNow co-founder and Chief Technical Officer Trent Carlyle explained. “It also meets the needs of a high-volume law firm that needs immediate access to job statuses.”

The software was developed and designed with extensive input from members of the process serving industry, and new features are consistently being considered as additional feedback comes through.

Some ServeManager features include:
> Accounting and Invoicing
> Tools for managing customer relationships and interactions
> Job sharing and collaboration options
> Improved usability and a clean new interface
> Improved mobile interface
> More control over collaboration and data sharing
> More affidavit options

ServeManager also has a mobile interface and can be accessed from any smartphone, tablet, or internet-accessible device. Part of the benefit in the mobile app is the integration of GPS and tracking data that can be associated with attempts. This provides checks and balances in that the process server can assure both their client and the court that the service attempt occurred at that date and time.

New features are consistently being released. For the latest information, updates, webinars, and more, click here. ServeManager is also backed by a support team happy to answer questions, demonstrate how the software works, and get feedback on the software.

Recently the Petition To Make Assault on a Process Server a Felony in All States passed 1,000 signatures.

Denver, CO - The Petition To Make Assault on a Process Server a Felony in All States, started by ServeNow in the hopes of raising public awareness about assaults on process servers, has recently surpassed 1,000 signatures. It is a part of the Promoting Assault Awareness and Protective Regulations for Servers (PAAPRS) campaign. This initiative is focused on raising awareness about process server assault and promoting further protection for process servers. The petition has gained support ranging from process servers, to friends and family, and other individuals not associated with process servers.

“An assault on anyone should be a felony! A process server who is serving court papers is representing a court of law,” writes Keith Burch from Westby, Wisconsin. Many signers have shared similar views when commenting on why they signed the petition. Jerry Phillips from Edinboro, Pennsylvania writes, “Process servers are officers of the court. We have every legal right to serve individuals and companies. We should be treated the same as a constable or law enforcement officer.”

There are many friends and family members that are concerned with the lack of legislation. Keonta Johnson from Baton Rouge, Louisiana writes, “I have a cousin who is a process server . . . I am strongly in support of the safety of my cousin’s life as well as the other individuals who do their jobs.” Himyo Green from Piscataway, New Jersey adds, “I have friends and family that work in this profession and would like them to be protected.”

Other signers reference locations where there are laws already in place to protect process servers. Maya Solis from Walnut Creek, California writes, “I live in California, where it is a felony to assault a process server, and urge all other states to follow suit . . . This law is necessary to keep all servers safe.”

As of today California, Florida, and Illinois are the only states that have passed laws to protect process servers from assault though others are pushing to make those legislation changes. Recently an attorney in Illinois was arrested for aggravated assault on a process server. This is not the normal repercussion in most states, however, and why PAAPRS is raising awareness on the subject. Numerous legal associations, process servers, and organizations have joined together to create the PAAPRS campaign.

“The goal of this petition was to raise awareness about this important issue. This petition is doing just that,” ServeNow.com co-founder Trent Carlyle explained. “The people signing this petition aren’t just process servers. They are friends, family members, and legal professionals. The support is amazing, and it will only continue to grow.”

About PAAPRS:
PAAPRS is Promoting Assault Awareness and Protective Regulations for Servers, and aims to raise awareness about process server assault. Additional resources include articles, prevention tips, an embeddable badge, a process server assault map, and other helpful tools.

Trent Carlyle, CTO and co-founder of Lawgical, was quoted in a recent article in Denver's Confluence Magazine.

“We really got started in the directory space with bail bonds agents and offices, process servers and private investigators,” says Carlyle. “Hopefully you never need these services, but if you do at least you have a trusted place to go to find a trusted professional.”

Confluence Magazine recently published an article about the expansion of Lawgical to house five new employees in marketing, audiovisual production, and communication. Lawgical CTO Trent Carlyle was quoted numerous times.

Excerpts:

“We’ve grown like crazy over the years,” says Carlyle. “We like to say that we’re always in startup mode. We’re always looking for the next exciting thing that will help us grow.”

The one thing Carlyle and company aren’t looking for is investment capital. “We don’t have any investors and we’re for the most part debt-free,” he says.

Lawgical bought an old factory in RiNo as its offices in October 2012. “We’ve always been flying under the radar,” says Carlyle. “This space allows us to get involved in the community even if we serve a very niche market.”

After it's acquisition by Denver and Los Angeles based company Lawgical, Legal Talk Network has moved to Denver to continue podcast production from a new studio.

Denver, CO - After a recent acquisition by legal-focused online marketing company Lawgical, Legal Talk Network, an online legal podcast network, is now being produced out of a Denver-based studio. The new studio boasts equipment and software designed to maintain the high-quality experience existing listeners expect.

As Legal Talk Network joined Lawgical’s existing roster of legal support brands, including ServeNow.com, PInow.com, and AboutBail.com, the company chose to shift production to an existing Lawgical office. With readily available space and resources in Lawgical’s Denver office, Legal Talk Network made the move.

“We’re excited to make Denver the home of Legal Talk Network,” Lawgical co-founder and CTO Trent Carlyle explained. “Denver was named a top 10 city for tech startups by USA Today, and even though Legal Talk Network is already well-established, it will be great to see the network contribute to the local tech community and help it grow.” Carlyle noted that although production is now based in Denver the hosts and show guests are scattered across various cities throughout the country.

With a move to the area came the opportunity to re-evaluate the show’s equipment, production process, and general needs. During the network’s acquisition period, nearly every component of the recording and editing process was audited, along with every piece of gear and equipment. The processing gear was pulled, re-evaluated, and ultimately upgraded where it would improve the clarity of the content. From outboard hardware to internal software, the studio and its capabilities have been fully re-envisioned.

“This was an opportunity to build the ideal studio for Legal Talk Network,” Lawgical CEO Adam Camras explained. “The new facility has been designed from the ground up using the many years of previous podcast development as a knowledgebase for where production needed improvement and where processes were already working smoothly. It’s given us the opportunity to really take a look at how we can improve these podcasts and ultimately expand our listener-base and grow the network.”

Two podcasts, Taking Control of Your Mobile Apps and Digital Cameras in Law: Are Smartphones Good Enough?mark the network’s first productions from the Denver studio. Both podcasts were for the network’s Kennedy-Mighell report, hosted by attorneys Dennis Kennedy and Tom Mighell. Podcast quality is still projected to improve as new equipment continues to be incorporated.

ServeNow.com has donated over $20,000 in process service to Pro Bono Net to support the pro bono work that law firms perform on behalf of low-income clients.

Denver, CO - ServeNow.com, a LAWgical company that aims to be the most trusted and efficient source for finding and using local qualified process servers is generously donating their services to Pro Bono Net, a national nonprofit leader in innovative programs that increase access to justice. As part of the newly formed partnership, ServeNow.com will donate over $20,000 in process services.

The donated process serving services will support the pro bono work that law firms perform on behalf of low-income individuals. ServeNow.com will provide pro bono process serving services to current subscribers of Pro Bono Net, Pro Bono Net’s practice management service for law firm pro bono programs.

Working with ServeNow.com, Pro Bono Net hopes to help its law firm partners spend more of their financial resources serving low income communities rather than on administrative costs. The ServeNow.com service will also provide pro bono lawyers with peace of mind knowing that their documents are entrusted to individuals who have been pre-screened and vetted. The time-consuming process of finding and communicating with process servers also takes away from time pro bono advocates can use on behalf of their clients.

“It’s great to team up with Pro Bono Net and be able to donate services,” Co-founder and CEO of ServeNow.com Adam Camras said. “We look forward to connecting Pro Bono Manager™ subscribers with members of our trusted network of process servers.”

“We are pleased to be working with ServeNow.com to make providing pro bono services more efficient for our partners,” said Adam Licht, Director of Product Management at Pro Bono Net. “It is our mission at Pro Bono Net to increase access to justice and we see this is a good fit to enable our partners and subscribers to more effectively help their clients.”

About ServeNow.com:
ServeNow.com, a subsidiary of LAWgical, is the most widely used source for finding process servers worldwide.
The Process Server Assault Map, a part of ServeNow.com’s Promoting Assault Awareness and Protective Regulations for Servers (PAAPRS) campaign, has reached 50 documented assaults.

Denver, CO - As process servers continue to face emotional and sometimes violent situations while on the job, new incidents are still being recorded on the Process Server Assault Map, a visual element of the PAAPRS (Promoting Assault Awareness and Protective Regulations for Servers) campaign that provides a snapshot view of process server assault across the country. The number of incidents recorded has now surpassed 50 reports, with assaults recorded across 19 states: Washington, Montana, Idaho, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, California, Nevada, Iowa, Oklahoma, Texas, Mississippi, Illinois, Wisconsin, Tennessee, Florida, Maryland, New York, and Rhode Island.

Recent reports:
> In Arizona, a party being served a 5-day eviction notice pulled a shotgun on a process server and fired. The process server was not injured, but the responding officer refused to charge the shooter until ordered to do so by a supervising officer. The resulting charge was discharging a firearm in a residential area.
> A recipient of legal documents allegedly pointed a loaded shotgun at a New York process server’s face.
> Upon spotting a process server, a woman in California jumped in her car and backed toward the process server’s vehicle, hitting it twice before leaving the scene.
> A process server in Oklahoma was blocked into a driveway by the woman who was to be served. The process server realized when approaching the vehicle that the woman had a revolver and backed away. The woman left, but later returned and accepted the papers.

Other attacks range from incidents involving vehicles and guns to attacks with baseball bats, meat cleavers, and throwing the paperwork back at process servers, and alleged assailants include individuals, attorneys, a judicial candidate, a director of transportation, and a mayor. One process server death has already been recorded. If you have been assaulted while serving process or a recent local news story has reported a process server assault in your area, click here to submit an assault to the map.

“Having all of this information displayed on the map gives us a pretty powerful visual of how big of an issue this really is,” ServeNow.com co-founder Trent Carlyle explained. “Hopefully this will increase awareness, and help the PAAPRS campaign educate people about the role process servers play in protecting every person’s right to be notified of lawsuits and actions against them.”

The Process Server Assault Map was launched as part of the PAAPRS (Promoting Assault Awareness and Protective Regulations for Servers) campaign, a joint effort by various organizations, associations, and individual process servers to raise awareness about this growing issue. Other resources include articles, prevention tips, an embeddable badge, and other helpful tools.
